Hello everyone, I'm wondering if something might be wrong with my HDD because it is generating quite a lot of spin noise (about 20db). I don't know if this is normal or not so just thought I'd ask. It's a 5400rpm drive btw.

Also, if this is simply normal then which SSD should I get for my games? Need a 500gb ssd because my game folder is 380gb.

When you're actually listening to it, what do you hear? Slight hum? Depending on the quality of the drive, you can hear more or less noise coming from it.

You're probably fine.

if it dosen't already you can get some rubber gromets and put them down to absorb the viberation

I have the Fractal Design Define R5 which has rubber grommets incluced for the HDD itself so it's not vibration noise. But thanks anyway

Its normal to hear noise from your HDD when its reading and writing data. If the noise continues excessively when its idling then something may be wrong.
