What resolution are you running at? If the answer is anything but 4k then no.

This, and think about what games you are playing and if they're compatible (or run well) with SLI configurations.

that is what I run so I say yes, worth it for sure. thing is while a lot of my buds wonder if they can run this game and that setting I really never do, I just play it and that is that.

um sense when do you get 90% better performance in real world scenarios in SLI??

Plus I have a single 980ti and can run pretty much any game I want at 144hz ultra settings.

I have a 1080p monitor and could make use of a second 980ti. It's a misconception that 1080p even at 60hz means you can't make use of graphics cards above any known level. And that's not including DSR/VSR

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Pretty much what @Cvdasfg said, we need more information about what you're doing before a recommendation can be made.

I doubt anyone would recommend a second Titan X for me (besides the card being really expensive) because I run all of my games on a 1440p 60Hz panel. Such is the same for you. If you're running 1080p or 1440p, I would say forego the change. If you're aiming for the latest AAA titles at high-ultra settings @ 4K, then I'd say yes, go for it.

I have a 980Ti already....I do not have yet but have been looking at buying a Acer XB280HK (a 4K Gsync monitor).  I am also in the planning stages of watering cooling my CPU and 980Ti.

4k or 1440p gsync, then yes. Or better yet, wait for Pascal or around that time for the 980ti price drops.

Pascal is the name of the new line of Nvidia GPUs.

That are a year away if you want a replacement for the 980ti.

But still people say to wait.

Because reasons I guess

I don't want to replace it....I am tired out buying computer parts I want to play with them.  I want to SLI at most and be happy with my card(s) for years.  I have no interest in waiting a year because I am seeing the crossroads of the $$ I have right now and the projects....
SLI...?
Water Cooling

Monitor

And I am being a dork seeing Tomb Raider with the Ti right now which I want and if I am going to do it right now and save the $60 I would spend on that and put it toward a awesome monitor or a waterblock....or whatever.

Tomb Raider runs at 1440 on a single 980ti if that helps. Bring down the AA and turn off the Vsync. Everything else can stay ultra

If anyone asks you never saw me.

It doesn't I am just saying that is a reason I should do this now if I am going to do it...but I am not 100% if it makes sense.  The only thing I am pretty positive on if I do it I should do it before water cooling so I don't have to go through the adventure of expanding the loop.

If you're going to get a 4k display, and if you have the kind of money to get a 2nd 980ti, and if you have the money to do a big custom water cool loop on your entire rig, and most imporantly, you really want to do it(and it sounds like you do), then yes.  It is worth it.

I don't care what hardware comes out this year, next year, or even a year after that.  Two 980ti's in sli is going to be playing games at fantastic settings for a long time to come.

my work in progress
