Ok so i was removing my hp probook 4530s battery above my desk and it fell 5-10cm onto my hard plastic desk. Im worried bc li-ion batteries are volatile but i havent plugged it back in. Will at that distance with no cracks or chips on the battery casing, it be ok to continue to use and am i just overreacting.

VERY unlikely it did anything. They can take a pretty serious impact in those battery cases. I would be worried at a couple meters or so.

Post a photo of the battery.  if it's covered by a hard plastic case, as most removable laptop batteries are, there is no problem.  In order to actually damage the lithium cells inside the external plastic case has to be seriously dented.
