Change that PSU to a EVGA 500-550W GS or G2 and the SSD to a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO.

I'm assuming you're using Shadowplay to record gameplay so I'll leave the GTX 970 alone.

Im going to record, and game at 1080p 60fps. Is the i5 6600k a good choice or should i go with an i7? Or maybe change the 970 to an 980?

Feedback is appreciated

i5 is fine :)

The NEX series arent the best, swap to a GS or G2

And unless you need the Nvidia card, id go with a R9 390 over a GTX 970

You can swap to R9 390, if you look for performance

Ya...none of the above really, the 390 is a better card overall than the 970

the Xeon has 2 more threads for streaming/recording/rendering

and buy a desktop mic if at all possible, the quality will be much higher. and I wouldn't spend so much on your keyboard mouse/ start small and work your way up, with like the Utech Saturn, and Redragon M601

Also this monitor is looking exceedingly good for the money, 4K, IPS, 28" for $300 for your main display. That's where I'd put my money, so you basically never have to buy another display again

Godsake, Have you people never had problems with AsRock Boards?

Reviews look promising

pretty much 4/5+ everywhere

http://i.imgur.com/jz93lgn.png

otherwise everyone has good/bad products at times, for example, ASrock has easily the best ITX board for the FM2+ platform

and the X99 ASUS Sabertooth board seems to have a lot of issues with it's early firmware

No expert but that seems a little overpriced for only 16GB of ram, and you might want to run 2 sticks instead of 4, so you can upgrade later if you want.

Also the R9 390 is a better card for raw gaming, but you might want the nVidia card because its more popular, so it will be optimized more, shadowplay might help you record/stream, and for the lower power consumption.

Well like, how long ago? What board? Did it have good reviews all around? mighta just been bad luck or an outside source such as your audio set up, unless the same audio set up worked fine on everything else.

Swap the i5 for a Xeon E3 1231v3 and the motherboard to a B85 G41. This config is cheaper, better for your purpose and allows for the also cheaper DDR3. I wouldn't buy a high end SSD at such a low capacity. Get an OCZ Arc 100 or Samsung 850 Evo at the capacity you think will be enough. A GQ PSU is good too. I highly reccomend a GQ 550W for your use. 970s are better for 1080p gaming, particularly if you're overclocking it. But 970 prices are dropping so get the cheapest one you can find. If you MUST have 7.1 surround, I reccomend the HyperX Cloud IIs. Otherwise, V Moda crossfades with the first party boompro mic is good if you can spring for a bit more with the money you saved.
