So for  the last three weeks I've been looking left and right for the best deals on a build I had planned. I ordered my GPU wednesday, a r9 390 from sapphire which is coming by ground delivery with Purolator from Vancouver. I live in Quebec. (Plot-twist, I'm FRENCH)

 

So, my question is, what are the chances that the card will be DOA? I've read so many stories of DOA turning into disasters lately...

Seriously though, I think even electronics manufacturers acknowledge a potential 5-10% DOA chance.

It probably won't happen to you, but it does happen and it could happen. 

 

It's a bummer, but nothing to be done about it. Just RMA ASAP.

The reason DOA reviews are high for any product is because people with a bad experience are more likely to write a review. A lot of people with good experiences just start using the product and dont bother to leave reviews so it seems skewed. The negative reviews that matter are the ones about quality. You can ignore DOA reviews.

So lets say I were to drop a 4gb ddr4 3200 stick of about 1-2 feet, what are the chances it is dead?

Don't be spooked. Absolute worst case scenario is you have to RMA it. I've never received anything that didn't work and nether has anyone I know. No reason to worry
