Hi guys,

So I noticed that the zip tie has cut through the little blue cable on my D5 pump the one that has the fan connector at one end, I never used this cable so had it tied up behind the motherboard tray as I always use the molex connector on the other cable on the pump.

Does it matter that this cable has snapped and is it safe to cut it off completely now as I don't think I can put the connector back on the end.

I assume this is just so you can control the pump through the bios fan curves and such?

The pump is a vario style one with settings 1 to 5 which is generally what I use to set the speed.

Thanks

It just senses the rpm as far as I know. I've got a D5 vario as well and have never used that cable.

So I can pretty much just leave it chopped off? I didn't think it was anything to worry about just wanted to check lol I will try not to do cable ties so tight in future I only noticed it as I am changing motherboard and got a new glass cylinder res from XSPC called the photon 170 (I think thats what they call it)

If you want I guess, if you've got zero need for it then just leave it as it is. My other system required a signal for one of the CPU pwm connectors and I just plugged it to that so I didn't get this stupid error on start up.

You can disable that error within the bios on most motherboards, I use to get that error on my old Asus motherboard when I used a water cooler with it said something along the lines of "Error CPU fan not detected" but it might depend on brand of motherboard MSI ones don't seem to do it at all. At the moment my new motherboard is being RMA'd due to a Debug code bd so I'm in the process of deciding whether to get it refunded and get the Asus Rampage Extreme x99 or getting a refund selling my 5960X and moving over to the z170 & 6700k but I hope to have my PC back soon my old PC can only handle titles such as dying light on medium due to Vram limitations.

Hi PeggersXtreme, all the blue cable does is send an rpm signal. I have it hooked up so my system shuts down if the pump fails. You can cut it of if you want too, you will just loose out on rpm readings you werent using eitherway
