Is the preview for free for Windows 7? Just wondering because I have a laptop that is running Windows 7.

 

It is a new operating system. So your Windows 7 would no longer be used. And yes, it is free.

That's up to you, just be warned that you'll have to reinstall Windows whether it be Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 when the preview ends.
