Can you try a different pci slot on the motherboard?

We did, nothing happened, so we had another friend come over with his other r9 270x and it worked, the one he gave him died and we don't know how cause it worked 2 days ago. So they swapped the cards, everything is good now, thanks to everyone for trying to help.

I helped my friend with his first pc build and almost all the parts were new except the video card. His friend gave him a R9 270X for free and it was working before he gave it to him. The fans spin up, but we get no video except from the motherboard itself. The card isn't showing up in the bios as well as device manager. Does anyone know why this could be happening?

 

Things I have tried:

 

Installing the driver, but they crash instantly

Updating the bios

 

I haven't reset the cmos yet, but I'm about to.

Yeah reset the CMOS, it won't really hurt anything. If the problem persists, test the graphics card in another PC, if it works in the other PC then the PCI-E port in the current PC is faulty and should be RMA'ed.

Yeah reset the CMOS, it won't really hurt anything. If the problem persists, test the graphics card in another PC, if it works in the other PC then the PCI-E port in the current PC is faulty and should be RMA'ed.

We reset the cmos and it didn't fix it. We already seen it tested in another computer and it worked, so we have a friend bringing over another 270x as well as a gtx 470 to see if the same thing happens to those cards.
