Front panel Hd audio not working

Hi, I've recently built my first computer and everything was going fine, I watched a YouTube video with my headphones plugged into the front panel 3.5 mm audio jack and when I came back with the same headphones the only way I could use them was by switching to AC97 format and I was wondering what the problem was with the Hd audio?

I've already tried that and it didn't do anything

Maybe you plugged in the AC97 instead of HDAudio?

It was an hd audio cable plugged into the Hd audio header bit after using it for a but the headphone jacks on the front panel of my case stopped detecting my headphones through hd audio

Make sure that your header is plugged in all the way. You should also cheek in the motherboard manual that it is the correct header.

I've double checked everything but when I switch the audio to hd my headphones aren't recognised
