Just an overclocking log for myself and for you guys (if you care). I'm hoping I got a really good chip and ATTEMPT (I know it sounds unlikely) but 5.0Ghz at 1.30v/1.35v.

Just OC'd my 4670k to 4.7Ghz at 1.25v. After a 30 minute stress test, no sign of throttling or overheating.

http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6880/kzjp.png

-Next jump; (1) 4.9Ghz with 1.25v

If 1 fails, (2) 4.8Ghz with 1.25v

If 2 fails, (3) 4.8Ghz with 1.30v

If 3 succeeds, (4) 4.9Ghz with 1.30v

If 4 fails, (5) 4.9Ghz with 1.35v

If 5 fails, tough luck.

If 5 succeeds, (6) 5.0Ghz with 1.35v

If 6 fails, Stick with 4.7Ghz @ 1.25v

EDIT 1

4.7Ghz @ 1.25v slowed down the start up time by a lot.

Changing the voltage to 1.30v made it quicker than it was at stock.

EDIT 2

4.9Ghz @ 1.325v stress test (in-progress)

EDIT 3

4.9Ghz @ 1.325v wasn't successful (Blue screen) therefore reverted back to a stable 4.5Ghz @ 1.25v

I knew i should have gotten a 4670k and not a 4770k , they want so much juice and they run so HOT compared to their i5 sibling

Currently at 4.9Ghz with 1.325v. Going to do a stress test.

4.9! Wow you have a great chip!

Well, lets hope I can meet my goal of 5.0Ghz @ 1.350v :D

It's definitely getting warmer.. 68°C hottest core so far.

I do not really get why you would want to go that high really. I mean is it not just a number race?

Oh, yeah that's for sure, please tell me it's the load temp and not the idle... Haha

You know what, these temps are actually kinda... Well, ok I guess, for 100% load!

Well, 4.9Ghz failed, got a blue screen.. All I saw was "Dumping Physical Memory" No idea what it means so just went back to 4.5Ghz @ 1.25v

Well, you tried, but well, for an i5, 4.9 seemed a bit extreme anyways, good job though!

blue screen means not enough voltage , try to follow these guidelines a little.

An Easy 4.4/4.5/4.6GHz Template:
Here are the settings I used; you can use them as a template for your settings:
CPU VRIN Override LLC: Set to Extreme (this is to make sure VIN doesn’t droop)
CPU VRIN Override Voltage: 1.7-2.0v (reduce if temeratures too high is causing instability, increase if temperatures are fine and you are unstable)
VCore: 1.2-1.25v
Ring Voltage: 1.15 or 1.2v
CPU Multiplier: 45x
BCLK: Auto
Turbo: Auto
C1E, C3, C6/C7, and EIST: All Disabled (There is a table in Step #1 which describes the behavior or different power saving features and what to enable/disable to get the behavior you want.)
