First PC Build

Go to solution Solved by DaltonM,

That's a hell of first build dude. Have you set this up using PCpartpicker?

That's a good tool to point out some incompatibilities.

Make sure you account for every measurement, make sure you have extra room for cords, rads and fans.

Also I feel like this is a 32gb of ram system lol. I run a 4690k and 750ti and I have 16gb of RAM. My PC is a peasant in comparison.

I am planning on my first PC build. My build is going to be high end build for video editing, gaming, and animation. I having an idea of all of part I am getting but I am unsure of if they will all work together or if I am forgetting something. Would someone mind taking a look?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k

Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Deluxe

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61

Memory: GeIL SUPER LUCE 16GB (2 x 8GB) 2400

Storage: 2x OCZ Trion 100 240GB in RAID 0

Western Digital Black Series 2TB 7200RPM

Graphics: 2x GALAX GTX 980 Ti HOF in SLI

Case: Fractal Design Define S

Power Supply: NZXT HALE90 V2 1000W 80+ Gold

OS: Windows 10

Moniter: Acer GN246HL 144Hz 24"

Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE RGB

Lighting: NZXT Hue+

Fan Controler: NZXT Grid+ V2

SLI Bridge: EVGA SLI Bridge

Case Fans: 4 Fractal Design dynamic GP 14 140 MM fans

So now with all of that, layout:

The Kraken will go on the top part of case as exhaust. The Hue+ and Grid+ will be placed in a 3.5" bay in the back of the case. 3 fans will be in the front as intake, while one fan in the rear will be exhaust. With the radiator, the case should be slightly positive pressure.

So am I forgetting anything? Is there any thing I should be concerned about? This is my first PC build and it is very high end so I don't want to messing anything up.

Thanks for the help

Mike

That's a hell of a first fucking build :D

Just a tip, I have the 6700K and it'[s great and all but you might want to opt for a 5820K... depending on how serious you are about 3d work and all that stuff.

But that being said, you are better off using the 2 980 ti's Cuda power, probably way faster than the 6700K anyway.

Seriously, who finds over £2k in their back pocket for a first build?! I'd be scared of getting the stand-offs in the wrong place and frying the thing. I just can't go with this build being your idea of dipping your toes into the water..

(I feel like such a hater.. I'll stop)

Sweet build, we expect pics!

I have decided to up the Ram to 32GB and only put one GTX 980 Ti in the system. I want to better explain what I will be using this PC for. I plan on doing 4K video editing and animation on this PC. Some of the animations I have made have over a million particles in them. My current setup (laptop) can't even come close to rendering this. Some 4K videos take over 24 hours to render. I need a PC that can do this significantly fast.

If one 980 Ti doesn't cut it, then I plan on upgrading later. I also plan on putting the OCZ Revodrive 400 (a M.2 SSD with a read/write at 2400 mb/s) when it comes out later this year. After I finish this build, I will be posting pic!

Thanks for the help!
