Looking For LEDs

Go to solution Solved by ★ Coups ★,

Well I've received my white LED's and I think they look alright. Thanks for the help and suggestions guys!

Hello LinusTechTips ! :D I came today to say hello...

Thanks for reading guys.

Joking. On a serious note though, I'm looking for LED's for my new Fractial Design ARC Mini. I like simple white ones as they dont drown out all the components in the computer. I found the

NZXT 1m LED Cable - White. These seem good because they are controllable.

My question for these LED's is are they actually white? And will it fit into my Drive Bays nicely without being uneven and ugly? Thanks

If anyone else has LED's in their case, please post a photo and where you got your LED's so I can take it into acount. Thanks!

Check out Addon Customs. They are based in the UK and have some amazing lighting products.

I personally use the NZXT Hue+ with a random color (not even close to what the RGB says it is) that happens to result in an amazing silver color. Pure white is really harsh imho on components, and this color is much better. BTW on my build log in sig, I have the color posted, but my camera completely fails to capture the color correctly.

I don't know about the white strips, but the hue+ is amazing, so if it is of similar quality go for it.

I've been looking for some LED lightning as well, but they all seem to be unreasonably expensive for what's esentially  a strip of 5~10 diodes that are worth less than 10 cents a piece...

so I just came across a wild idea, how about I solder a 3-pin or a Molex connector this guy and hide it in hard drive cage or something:

ccd36ed73793439a62b8ac6f916f7e89.JPG

costs 1.50€ and the molex or 3-pin can be sourced from any old hardware

It's actually a pretty reasonable deal for what all you get, but I don't see myself ever using more than one LED strip.

On amazon it costs £59.98. Thats a lot of money. I can easily buy the White LED I want for around £8.

Look, I wouldn't pay that much for LEDs either but $59.99 is a reasonable asking price for all that's included in the kit.

lol... what's included in the kit?

a microcontroller that costs $2 bulk, led's that cost $0.10 bulk and a piece of copper wire?

If you wanna buy this stuff in bulk, you will only lower the unit cost of each individual part, the total price will be higher.

If you were to buy this piecewise it would cost about this much and you get the convenience of it coming with what looks like pretty decent LED controlling software.

You can bash it all you want, I think I've said twice that I wouldn't waste my money on it.  The point is that it's not an unreasonable asking price.
