Laptop GPU broken.

Go to solution Solved by Mr.Meerkat,

Hey,

I have an Asus x73by laptop (fairly old)

and since a few days the screen isnt working anymore.

So when i start the laptop the screen isnt showing anything.

I have already checked the inverter, its fine, i have also tried the "unpower it completely and try booting then method", didnt work.

So im pretty sure that its the GPU, and i wonder if i could simply use an external GPU instead.

to an certain extent yes, you can use a external GPU. Of course it's going to be either a USB gpu or one of those things that allows you to connect through you laptop's mPCI-e slot with a external GPU.

Edit, have you tried running the laptop with it connected to an external display??
