What should i upgrade ?

Arcanekitten

Hi

I have a idea on what to upgrade but maybe you guys have different opinions.

so i was thinking to get a new mobo and cpu or maybe getting a new psu and adding a second R9 290 but i also was thinking of buying a new pair of headphones M40x to be precise.

i don't really have a set budget but keep it normal so a second R9 290 is max.

here are my specs currently (all of it)

CPU FX 8350

MOBO Asrock 970 extreme3 R2.0

GPU MSI R9 290

PSU CM G750M

CASE Fractal design R5

8 GB of ram (2x2 kingston and 1x4 value corsair)

Hyper 412s as cpu cooler

1 SSD samsung 750 120GB

2 HDD one 3TB other 500 GB

peripherals:

Mad Catz R.A.T 7

Razer Deathstalker (non ultimate)

LG 29UM67-p (freesync monitor so no nvidia stuff over here) and a Samsung B2230HD

Speakers Z323

mouse mat steelseries

Hi

Well, if your CPU is holding you back in games you could get an i5 4460, but otherwise, crossfire isn't going to be worth it

I'd say just save up a bunch of money for when zen/kaby lake come out and build something crazy then.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

With AMD releasing new GPU's towards the end of Q2, it will probably be best to wait a little while and upgrade then. If you want to stick with AMD, then they are releasing Zen at the end of the year which "should" bring their processors performance on par with 4000 series intel cpus. At the moment, its all about playing the waiting game

sell the 290 and get a 980

He'd want an R9 Nano rather than a 980, but that wouldn't be worth it anyways

in some games like dying light or fallout 4,witcher 3 my cpu is a BIG bottleneck with my fps hitting as high as 30fps (not witcher 3 but fps is not that great)

Don't touch anything yet. It's perfectly fine. Wait for end of 2016, Zen is coming out then and 2016 H2 is rumored to have both new Nvidia and AMD GPUs. :)

that wouldn't be worth it as a R9 390 is a little bit worse than a 980 and a 290 is a tiny bit worse than r9 390 and also if you'd read my post i said no nvidia because i have a freesync monitor.

You could overclock your CPU if you haven't already, here's some OC'd 8320e benchmarks and it's not doing too bad

Otherwise the i5 option

i know but there is a small tiny problem with my cpu not really having any room for overclocking because in the past i had problems with this chip throttling at stock speed and by lowering voltage that just about got solved.

That probably has more to do with your motherboard than the chip itself you really need a decent 990/fx board to properly run the 8 core CPUs. If wanted to go a little crazy and you don't use the extra cores you could disable them and try to OC on just 4 of the cores.
