Cheap switch or keep using WiFi

So at my mates place he has a long Ethernet under his house and his internet/ping in games is great, but the WiFi can sometimes be dodgy and lag/drop, I was wondering if using a cheap 10/100 switch would effect his connection or if we would both be able to get the same ping/speed as he did with his direct connection

i have a pair of gigabit switches that have been doing really well, and were cheaper than the cheapest 10/100 option available at my local retailer.

TP-Link TL-SG1005D if anyone wonders.

one of the few tp-link products i'll ever recommend.
