Firstly buy PCI express if your able. Secondly buy one that fits your router. If you have an 1900AC router then buy a 1900AC card. That would be my advise any way. I would say any of the major brands should be cool. ASUS, Dlink, TPlink etc.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

You have a combo modem/router. In my experience they dont get good signal. Especially if they are rented from your ISP. I have heard of ISP turning down the wireless signal to make it neighbor friendly.

$15 for a WiFi card is not going to amount to much. Hell my wireless N900 card is still about 30 USD on newegg.

How close are you to your router?

Might be able to buy a modem out right and save money on your bill. My cable modem was $80. Then you take in the fact that Comcast charged me $10 a month for a rental. In 8 months my investment was paid off. Plus you would have to buy a router unless you purchase on All in One box like you have.

Any who, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g4rzyc these are a few I found. I generally have had good luck with PCI express card version, they tend to work better. Keep in mind these are probably Wireless N 150. So that a max of 150 Mbps, which you will get probably 1/2 to 1/3 of that on a good day. At least thats been my experience with wireless. Honestly with out knowing the specs of your router, in terms of what WiFi standards it has I cant really recommend anything else.

I would recommend in the future when you have maybe extra green laying around, you purchase a better router and a better wireless card. OR you could just run a cable, use power line adapters, or Moca. Those are good alternatives.

Who is your provider?
