Hello everyone! This is my first forum post ever so im really fresh, just got my socks and sandals on :D
So im building my new system, a midrange/budget gaming rig for 1080p gaming and I need help with chosing an appropriate power supply for it. Im not very experienced in PSU so I feel as if this is new territory for me.
My system is:
CPU: AMD FX-8300 3.3Ghz
GPU: MSI GTX 950
Memory: 8 gigs of HyperX Fury ram (2 sticks of 4gb)

Motherboard: Asrock 970 Extreme 4
PSU: we will find out soon (hopefully)

I can give some more information if needed.
The PSU that I have my eyes on currently is a Corsair vs 550w. Im on a fairly tight budget so around 70-75$ is my limit.
I would love to know if its stable for my system or if I should get something else. Im open to all suggestions!
Also according to http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator my system will need around 360 wats but I would like to have some wiggle room just in case.
I would deeply appreciate the help, I have a week to decide and I really want to make a good choice!
Thanks in advance :)
- Martin

I wouldn't get anything below 500w for a gaming rig, because you're probably going to upgrade later.

But a PSU is a VERY important part. If you PSU shorts out, it could take your whole system with it. It's a boring part, but worth the extra cash. This could last you several builds. a 650w would be ideal because future chips will probably draw less  power too.

Corsair is fine as long as you don't get the CX Line. Personally I use a EVGA SuperNOVA

Get an I5 over the 8300 assuming you haven´t bought the parts yet. If you have, use this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/

To help you pick a psu. Pick something from tier 1 or 2, no less than 3.

A decent 400w would already have plenty of wiggle room.

Corsair's VS series is pretty meh and there are probably better options available. Where are you shopping?

CX is fine. VS is worse.

VS < CX < CS < RM < HX < AX < HXi ~ RMi ~ RMx < AXi

I already have everything bought exept the PSU since my last one broke after an unexplained series of power outages. The problem being that I dont have enough money to spend to buy any of the better tier PSUs and I need to settle on something humble, but at the end of the day I just need something reliable that wont derp out in a year
