This is my first time picking out parts to build a computer. I based it off of the $500 build in a LinusTechTips video here
but changed some stuff around to my personal taste. I plan to use this computer for gaming, programming, use of programs like Unity3d and Unreal Engine 4 to develop games, schoolwork and overall workstation.  I recognize that this isn't the most spectacular or powerful build but I want something powerful enough to be used for all of the things I listed above.

I also included keyboard with a mouse in the list. I heard that stock fans that come with the cpu are generally not that great so I chose a compatible cpu fan  (according to pcpartpicker) but there's a compatibility issue with it and the case I believe which I'm looking into and may change. I will also be doing further research into the parts later, this is just what I have at the moment.

I want you guys to tell me if this is good, or a mess of a list and to tell me what works and what doesn't work and I ask for pointers and tips for building a gaming/workstation rig.

Sorry because PcPartPicker says the build is pending I decided to copy and paste the build to the post.

The text list would´ve been just fine you know. Also, nope, not a 960. 380 over 960. On this budget, you should not be spending so much on the case. You can do better than that psu. I assume you want a black and green build?

Okay, so I took some suggestions and updated my build:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/G2qCGX

Given your workload, as well as games making use of quad cores more and more these days, I believe that cutting down on some parts like the case and HDD to accommodate an i5 instead of the i3.

Another option, if you need the pc right now is to put the cheapest LGA 1150 CPU available in there and upgrade to something like an i7 4790 as soon as you get the chance.

Good thing is you get some upgradability even though the platform has just changed.

I managed to include an i5 in there by cheaping out on the HDD and case.
