Hello everyone. Thank you for your help last time. In the end i decided to stick with skylake.

So, i play mostly league of legends, mount and blade warband and total war games. My question is: is there any benefits in i5 or i7 integrated graphics over i3 6100. We are talking about skylake. I saw a benchmark with oc i3 to 4.7 ghz and it was almost toe to toe with i7.

And i would upgrade to some gpu if i need it in the future.

If it's only LoL, then integrated graphics will be just fine. But for my personal opinion, It's better to get a dedicate graphics card for several reasons....

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

i7 8700K 4.8Ghz delidded / Corsair H100i V2 / Asus Strix Z370-F / G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200 / EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 / ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB & 250GB - Crucial MX300 M.2 525GB / Fractal Design Define S / Corsair K70 MX Reds / Logitech G502 / Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ohm

SMSL SD793II AMP/DAC - Schiit Magni 3 / PCPP

Old Rig

i5 2500k 4.5Ghz | Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P | Zotac GTX 980 AMP! Extreme | Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB 1866MHz

Intel integrated graphics aren't meant for gaming but the difference between the i3 and the i5 or i7 shouldn't be a huge difference since, they're both just the cheap Intel graphics. And if you want to play games you should get a GPU, doesn't need to be a 980 but something like 750 ti or 950 would be a good budget one

Spoiler

[CPU] - Intel Core i5-4590

[Motherboard] - MSI B85-G43 GAMING

[RAM] - Kingston HyperX Beast (2x4GB) 1866Mhz... CPU only supports 1600Mhz

[SSD] - A-Data SP600 128GB SSD

[HDD]- 1Tb Seagate Barracuda

[GPU] - EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SSC

[Case] - Corsair SPEC-03 White

[PSU] - Rosewill 450W 80+Bronze

in general even if you could oc i3 issue with ocing is you still need special motherboards from z series and they will cost more. So if you got spare cash pick h170 motherboard and i5. As for gpu gtx 950 is atm best moba gpu and price is pretty good.

Only reason to go with i5 over i3 is because most high end games are optimized for quad cores and will suffer huge performance hit with duo cores. But there is no issue with games like lol.

Cheapest i5 atm from skylake is around 190$ and is i5 6400

I will get dedicated gpu for sure but later. In the mean time i just want to play lol and i want to make a wide upgrade path. If i don't get Z170 chipset i have a good chance to damage cpu with ddr3 memory (correct me if i'm wrong, i saw a lot of stuff lately).

To summarize i wanna play with integrated graphics and then upgrade gpu. Is it smarter to wait for amd new processors and for ddr4 prices to fall down?
