Multiple graphics cards, non sli

So yesterday I posted:

 

Would it be possible to run 2 monitors with two different graphics cards?

eg: r9 390 plus a quadro k2200?

I tried it, CUDA gets disabled when you have any ATI drivers present. You can do it, but huge gaming performance hit on your nvidia card.
