AMD to Intel switch

Hi, First time posting so I apologize for anything I miss post and such. So I currently have an Fx-6350 and I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU and want to go Intel but I don't know whether to go skylake or haswell and whether to get an i7 or an i5, The build will mainly be used for gaming and I'm getting new ram anyway so cost of DDR4 doesn't matter very much and it will be paired with dual Gigabyte 960's which will be overclocked soon

Well since you are moving from such a small pedestal then i recommend going with skylake.

 

i5-6500 if you are not overclocking and of course the i5-6600k if you are.

Board wise, any board that is cheap that can fit your usage and needs will do.

First what is your over all budget? What all parts do you need? And do you want to overclock?

I need motherboard and CPU only but I'd like to stay below the $500 range for both if possible but I can go over if the boost is worth it

fair enough, I guess you are correct but first saying he's going to get new ram then saying it's Cpu and mobo only is a tad contradictory...but nvm

Ran cost isn't included but a recommendation that is compatible with mobo would be helpful
