Low Profile CPU cooler suggestions

Go to solution Solved by FourCorners,

Never actually had first hand experienced these coolers but I've been looking for low profile cooler my self and came across these

Both from Phanteks and come in different colours

For a lower profile:

PH-TC12LS

http://www.phanteks.com/PH-TC12LS.html

And one that is a little taller but uses two 140mm fans :

PH-TC14CS

http://www.phanteks.com/PH-TC14CS.html

If you can't buy these, as Phanteks coolers are not the most available thing, the Cooler Master GeminII M4 is also a nice option at a lower price

I've just moved my PC into a new case (Corsair Air 240). I've been running the stock Intel cooler for 3 or 4 years now, but it's time to replace that. The bearing in the fan is on it's way out and sounds like it's trying to grind up rocks. I'd like to stick to the small footprint the stock cooler has and match the color scheme I've got going on (black/white). The motherboard I've got is the ASRock H77M and it's got the LGA 1155 socket.

Any suggestions would make me beyond excited as I've not had awesome luck finding something that fits the color scheme.

Edit: I don't know if this helps or not, but this is my full build as it sits now.  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jXhHdC

Have you tried contacting Intel for a replacement cooler?

I haven't tried to contact intel, I just figured it was time to bite the bullet and get something to fit in with the aesthetic of the case and video card.

Holy butts, that Phanteks PH-TC12LS would fit in with the build awesome! My only concern there is that the motherboard I have may not have the clearance on the right side of the cooler since the RAM is currently 1 to 1.5 cm from it. So I don't know if a 120mm fan would fit.

Also, I haven't heard a whole lot about Phanteks CPU coolers. How do they stack up against other cooler brands? I imagine it would be a step up from stock cooling, I just don't know much about their coolers.

If you are worried about RAM clearance, the GeminII S524 Ver 2 from Cooler Master is taller and has better RAM clearance support. but it;s a lot taller

As for Phanteks, they are just as good as other big brands on the market, if not better. And PH-TC12LS will definitely perform better than a stock Intel heatsink, and quieter too.

I think I've narrowed it down to these two:

http://noctua.at/en/nh-l9x65.html

Once I found the noctua I would have been immediately sold, but that brown on brown color scheme just makes me sad for my build aesthetic.

The Phanteks cooler seems to have taken my worries into consideration. The heatsink and fan are offset over the cpu to overhang toward the i/o shield in order to have no clearance issues with the memory. So I think the Phanteks wins this round.

P.S.

Thanks for the quote tip, I hadn't thought of doing that.
