Should i upgrade the cpu?

Hi everyone,

In about 6-8 weeks i will upgrade my pc. The 8 gigs of ram will be upgraded to 16 gigs and the GTX 760 (which for some reason is still running most games very smoothly. AC Syndicate included) will be replaced by a GTX 970. But instead of wasting a crap amount of money on the cpu, should i switch over the i5/i7 skylake series or should i keep my i5 4460? Cause i have a feeling that i am about to waste a lot of money, considering that my cpu is still able to keep up with most new games.

keep the i5 because with skylake you'd need a new motherboard and new ram aswell.

I think any CPU upgrade can wait. The other upgrades should more than do the trick.

You won't gain anything from upgrading the CPU. It's already more than enough. I'd also suggest not buying a 970 and waiting for Pascal as your 760 is doing fine

this. upgrading wont be worth the cash yet at this point, i'd suggest waiting out at least one more cycle on the cpu.

Thanks everyone! Based on the advice i'm getting here, i decided to keep my little powerhouse. Also people are saying that i should keep the 760. And that is a point i will take into consideration. The RAM will be upgraded anyway. I would have a hard time replacing my 4460 anyway, since it served me so well the past 3 years. The last time i replaced my old core 2 quad, i cried for 2 hours straight. But anyway i want to thank everyone for replying so quickly.
