possibly. if you clicked on I would run a virus scan just to be safe.

I'll just run an deep virus scan. I'm using Avast. Can't see how I would already have that big a virus on a 3 day old install though.

I would NOT give them anything. Possibly could've been a scam website that you couldn't notice the difference. Not a real expert, I've never called Microsoft before.

I had the same problem as you... But I asked for online support chat and everything got fixed :)

Don't trust phones, I had this scam happen to me a while back. It was to fix software (Can't remember what it was) and they called me saying they needed my password to my internet... And I just said nice try idiots and hanged up.

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

The only reason Microsoft would call is if you tell them to.

Welp now the activation control panel cant reach the activation servers even though my internet is good. Also keep getting a "tech help" popup on every webpage so I think somehow something nefarious has gotten past my antivirus.

Going to go on the side of caution and wipe my drives and re-install Windows 8 and then upgrade to 10 through there, and change all my passwords.

My father once got a call as such, he went on to the phone, going along with everything that the scoundrel said, even pretending to get on his computer. Suddenly, he stopped, and proceeded to tell the heathen that he had been tricking him the entire time, and told him to go get a life. My father then hung up...

It looks as if the peasants have risen up, and found swords!

But their sword's look a little short, if you know what I mean!

Good! The squires need training anyway!

I used a tool (forget which one) when I had win 10 right after the upgrade to get the key then I did a fresh install.
