Starting to watercool

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

Makes sense. For moderate oc, is the AIO's my best bet then? $400-$500 is getting tight with Pascal coming out. If AIO is the way to go, would you recommend the Kraken X61's?

For the CPU the X61 is a good choice, for the GPU a single 120mm or 140mm cooler is usually enough, just be sure to add VRM and VRAM heastinks if your using the G10 bracket.

I am planning to cool my system, but originally I was going to buy 2 Kraken X61's  (one with a G10 mounting bracket) and I was wondering, are there any good kits for the same $200-$350 dollar price range? I have no problem buying parts separately if necessary instead of a kit. Will the price/performance and maintenece/maintenence be far superior to two AIO's? If so, may I have assistance in choosing a kit or building a component list? Thank you - Horse

what do you mean superior?

a custom loop you need to flush at least once a year and replace tubing every few years

with an AIO there is no maintenance other than dusting

Phantom 820, 1150 socket, EVGA Supernova G2 750W, Gigabyte Gaming 5, GTX 970 SSC (waiting for pascal to upgrade) By superior, I meant, will the same price range out perform AIO's? I am guessing yes, but I guess it is just about hearing if the "risk" is worth it.

Welcome to the Forums!

If your wanting similar performance but less work and cost an AIO loop for the CPU and GPU with adapter bracket is your best bet, for a custom loop your looking at around $400-500 starting price for a decent loop like that.
