Hello, Linustech media group

I've seen the recent CES vids starring serveral eGPU solutions, these products caught my eyes and popped some questions. I'm referring to the Razer Core and the Asus dock.

1. These products that contain a desktop gpu will they work with other devices (from different manufacturers)?

2. Do they need a special kind of software? Or will they be plug-and-play?

3. Will it only replace the internal graphics, or would it be possible to run a SLI config? (I'm currently using a XMG u726 "rebranded Clevo p870dm-G" with the GTX 980 "desktop").

Yours sincerely,

Gavriil

PS. Im from the Netherlands so it might be possible that my auto-correct slipped in some mistakes.

This isn't the first time manufacturers have shown external GPU solutions like this.  None of the previous ones were ever released onto the consumer market.  So wait till they actually put it on the market before even considering such a solution.

I know for number two, it needs to support intel detatchable graphics. On the hardware end the Razer core uses thunderbolt 3 over usb c. The Asus uses two usb type c connectors. I assume the systems in question would need to support that much.

Thank you guys for trying to help met get an awnser . I've gotten the alphine-ridge controller on my laptops motherboard which holds thunderbolt 3 using a USB 3.1 type-C connector, so that wouldn't be a problem.

## more info on the laptop;

Core I7-6700k

GTX 980 "fully unlocked which performs exactly like the desktop GTX 980"

(This was also shown by Luke and in another vid tested by Linus).

Which made me curious wether or not If SLI would be possible.
