It can't be genome because a genome is all the organism's DNA that codes for all an organism's traits, not just one.

DNA is just Deoxyribonucleic acid, which doesn't have to be instructions for anything. It could just be some acid floating around. DNA isn't a set of instructions for a single trait. It's the tools used to create those instructions, and it can be used for something other than instructions - for example, junk DNA that just acts as filler.

DNA is like letters of the alphabet, a codon (three nucleotides) is like a word, a gene is like a sentence, and a genome is like the entire essay.
