Sony Vegas uses OpenCL.

Saying it performs better with AMD is such a wrong blanket statement.

True, but with the new drivers AMD is releasing program developers are starting to utilize it.

The big problem with cuda is that it is proprietary

Opencl as the name states is open and therefore easier for developers to integrate.

You won't see Cuda disappear but, it does truly have competition now.

So how many % faster will an AMD card render a video than a Nvidia card

Depends on the card and the program.

well from those graphs up to 27%

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |
How much vram do you actually need? | APUs and the future of processing | Projects: SO - here

Intel i7 5820l @ with Corsair H110 | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 1600Mhz | XFX Radeon R9 290 @ 1.2Ghz | Corsair 600Q | Corsair TX650 | Probably too much corsair but meh should have had a Corsair SSD and RAM | 1.3TB HDD Space | Sennheiser HD598 | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro | Blue Snowball

Thats a professional card...

I know but I recall a graph with the 7970 Ghz outperforming many firepros in opencl including the w7000 .

Photoshop and Premiere CS6 support it.  All of Creative Cloud will support it as well.

Except for After Effects.

A 7970 may have more horsepower but it can make mistakes in calculation that can ruin a project.

That is also true :P which is why it's preffered to get a workstation card.

Correct. Here is an article from TomsHardware where they benchmark several AMD and nVidia cards in tons of different software suites

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-workstation-graphics-card,3493-28.html

The AMD 7970 does very well in OpenCL accelerated applications.

Thanks for finding it :P however as WoodenMarker said the mistakes it makes can ruin projects which makes a workstation card preferable.
