Laptop for video editing

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

I 2nd this, has the op ever edited before? anything core 2 duo and above can handle full 720p fine. Core i3 "can" do 1080p fine. if your even thinking of doing 4k you don't need a new laptop you need a brain...

as long as you have a "decent" processor and tons of ram and a good enough gpu you should be fine.

I'm skyping with him. He's doing 4K content soon.

Need help in buying a video editing and graphic mobile workstation . My primary software's i use are adobe primer pro , after effects and cinema 4d and occasionally i use maya and 3ds max for 3d graphics. i have a problem choosing the graphics card . could explain to me what is the difference between a Dual Sli gtx 780m w/4gb GDDR5 and a single GTX 780m w/4gb GDDR5. im curious if there are dual cards the memory is supposed to be 8 gb but it shows 4gb . Also please suggest me the bets cpu. I am currently using a alienware m17x and i seriously need a upgrade i have looked at the alienware 18 , adk 9000i7 , sager NP9570 and the eurocom phanter 4d .

My budget is about $ 5700

 Please help thank you

Dual sli means there are two gpus working together. The memory is shared so there's 8GB working but it's effectively 4GB.

Any i7 QM should be fine.

Why a laptop though? Also, where are you shopping? Is it USD you're spending or what?

How mobile does it have to be because an ITX build with a monitor somehow mounted on it would be a lot better and be cheaper

I would say get the cheapest ram and hardrive option you can then upgrade the ram yourself and add an ssd it should end up a little cheaper that way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5ZOGeeGcjE

Buy for now not for later there is no such thing as future proof and trying to pay more now for things you need later will end up costing you more money than its worth
