I'm new to this forum and I need some help on upgradeing my i5 2500k sandy bridge and if its worth upgrading my PC to Intel's new skylake because I'm getting ready to do some photo editing I would love to have some opinions and the help would be greatly appreciated thanks guy's

Whats the rest of the rig? And the i5 2500k is a pretty nice CPU with some OC.

Haswell still has plenty of life in it, and I'd argue that Sandy Bridge just about does as well.

 

I would wait for Skylake to go a little cheaper, however, since supply doesn't quite meet demand and is a little more expensive than it should be right now.

In my opinion i think that an i5 is plenty for photo editing. I sometimes edit 4k photos on my i3 2120.

I'd just keep what you currently have if you're just going to do photo editing.
What you might want to look at upgrading is your RAM, and possibly adding a small SSD as a scratch disk.

I would second that, Wait until Skylake's availability is a bit more and the prices normalize to its $350~ per CPU

Hey guys my brother built a system and its a amd a10 7850k and he's been having problems with the apu with screen artifact's and red screens of death when gaming and he has gskill ram and a MSI A88xm-EZ45 motherboard so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
