Help with migrating boot SSD

So I bought a 500GB 850 EVO to upgrade from my 240GB Kingston V300 as my boot drive. Is it possible to do a fresh install on the 850 and then allocate it as main drive and remove windows from the Kingston, and copy all other files onto the 850, because I have a lot of programs and BF4 installed on the SSD and would hate reinstalling everything.

I did this when i went from a 128gb a-data ssd to a 500gb samsung m.2 drive. I believe the way i did it was with Aomei backupper http://www.backup-utility.com/free-backup-software.html I believe the way i did it was making a backup of my ssd and then installing it to my new ssd and then turning off pc and switching them out. I think that worked for me, don't remember if there was any other steps.

Actually i reinstalled Aomei to look at it, go to clone and click system clone. normally it's locked, to unlock it just wants you to share a post of Aomei to twitter.

Hmm but that's like a clone, right? I have had issues with clones before, so I don't think I want to do that. Worst comes to worst, I will do a fresh reboot.

Hmm but that's like a clone, right? I have had issues with clones before, so I don't think I want to do that. Worst comes to worst, I will do a fresh reboot.

 

I've tried a few programs before i came across Aomei, a lot of them being slow as balls or just don't work right, but Aomei seems to be a good one and I haven't had any issues with them. With the system clone you just need to have both drives installed in your pc and then clone your system on your main drive to the new one, then power off and remove your old drive, make sure to set the new drive in the boot order in bios

Or use Samsung's very own Cloning software...for his Samsung 850 EVO SSD...because the software is written for Samsung SSD's...

If the OP purchased a retail Samsung SSD, the cloning software is already included in a DVD. Otherwise, he/she can download the software directly from Samsung.

I wish I knew this earlier. I bought an M.2 850 EVO, so no CD came. Still, thanks for the advice and Acronis worked just fine. I will know for next time.
