Surveillance System Upgrade

Go to solution Solved by zMeul,

So plug it into a PC and just leave it sit for a bit. Then plug it into the surveillance system? is it that simple?

plug it into a PC, boot windows and go in disk management - as soon as that opens, you will be prompted to initialize the new disk, do so (as MBR, not GPT)

that's it

power off, remove the HDD and put it the DVR

I'm going to upgrade a MiracleOn (Can't find anything about it) surveillance system and I need to know if I can just chuck in a WD Purple 2TB Drive into it. Will it just go or will I need to do formatting or something?

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

have no idea who are they are but, from my own experience with putting a fresh HDD (WD Purple, but it's not important) into a DVR - initialize it 1st on a PC!

at least the model I had, was not capable of initializing HDDs, it could not write the MBR - you don't have to partition it, just to initialize it; as far as I saw, the DVR will make some weird partitions by itself
