So! The age old question. What mobile device to get...

 

The current model is an HTC One M8, I like it quite a lot but ive outgrown it, it seems. Its having some serious speed and stability problems, apps crashing or taking literal minutes to open. In addition, the battery life is waning, and having lost the HTC branded charger for quickcharging, keeping it powered has become a daily challenge.

 

I would classify myself as a power user. In my new handset, I value raw performance highest, aesthetics secondly. I don't like the locked down, non-customizable interface of iOS, and I would prefer not to have an iPhone copycat a-la Galaxy S6, no matter how robust a phone it may be. Lastly, I like my phones around the 5"-5.5" size, no phablets for my pocket, but decently large.

 

Things that do not matter in the slightest to me include camera quality, as long as it has one, as well as wifi hotspotting, fingerprint scanners, car locators, laser beams or whatever the fuck else they strap to these things. I want the fastest performance phone on the market, no frills, no muss no fuss.

 

So, what do you guys think?

Galaxy S6 isn't even close to iPhone in any way imaginable.

They come in the same colors, they have the same resolution, and if you think the default interface doesnt look the same, you and helen keller should compare paint swatches for your new apartment, mate.

I have the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. It has an SD card slot, battery isn't removable though, 3GB of RAM, Snapdragon 810, 32GB Internal Storage which can go up to 232GB with help of an SD card. It's also 5.5", supports Quickcharge 2.0, it has pretty good battery life, It's fricking IP68 certified so it's completely waterproof up to 1.5m and in my opinion it looks awesome.

 

Oh, and a 4K screen of course. :P

 

Sony's UI is very close to stock and if you change the launcher to one like Nova you can set the icons to stock and I can barely tell the difference between stock and SonyUI because of it.

Galaxy S6 isn't even close to iPhone in any way imaginable.

Samsung stole all of the features that make the iPhone bad.

I'd rather have an iPhone over Samsung's phones to be honest. Touchwiz is just... No words.

the Xperia looks good, I just worry about its battery life, powering a 4k screen and backlight that honestly i will barely use.

And my only worry with the Oneplus 2 is build quality, not that the phone lacks any itself, just that i have dropped the One M8 HUNDREDS of times and the screen is still perfect. Oneplus is a fairly young company, if I remember right. How is it at droptests?

The fastest phone on the market hrm? well the fastest one on the current market is the iphone 6s, but you have also stated that you do not like the lock-downed concept of ios. Flagship phones that are going to come out this year include the snapdragon 820, that should be more than enough for a power user like you. The phones are that are going to have this 820 are the upcoming S7, LG G5 (or whatever they're going to name it), there's probably gonna be a new HTC phone, and if they actually get their stuff together it may actually be a applicable flagship contender.

You should probably keep in mind though that Android Marshmallow is coming to the M8 very soon* - I know this won't fix your quick charging issues.. but it might help with the app crashing and instability.. or it will make it worse and I will have to eat my hat. 

 

All else fails get a Nexus 6P  :P

If you can't wait for MWC. Then I guess, the LG G4 sounds better for you. Though I do have to say the S6 isn't that bad... I have one and I like it... Because I don't like touchwiz and I didn't feel like rooting my S6 to put CM13 on it. So I just got the Google Now launcher and a couple other things to make it a little closer to stock Android...
