Hey everyone! Im hoping for some help building a new rig. My current rig is

AMD FX 6300

16GB 1600 RAM (4x4GB)

MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard

MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB OC edition

1 Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD

1x 120mm Cooler Master Seidon M Radiator

650w PSU

Someone wants to buy my desktop from me so that sparked my interests in building a new one. Im keeping the SSD and putting in a 250GB HDD for them that I have laying around (still works, no problems since I got it only a few months ago on sale) and also they want to buy their own graphics card so im keeping the 750 Ti.

I play The Forest, Fallout 4, Battlefield Hardlines (low FPS and graphics), Star Citizen even though its kinda slow. Ive been really into Star Citizen lately.

I want to get a i7-4790k CPU, but im having troubles trying to put one together. My desktop is too far from my Router, actually its upstairs in my parents room, so i dont have access to the Ethernet port and will need a NIC.

So what im thinking is

i7-4790k CPU

MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB edition

Samsung evo 850 250GB SSD

16GB RAM (unknown for sure but possibly G.SKill 4x4GB)

WD 1TB Black HDD

EVGA 600w PSU (still leaves me for upgrades if I want a better GPU)

Gigabye GA-B85M-DS3H-A

along with some Corsair Air Series SP120mm (I have 2 of them laying around since my current desktop doesnt hold all of them)

Here is a link to what im thinking if it makes everything easier

https://pchound.com/pz14tV/

I did take out the cost for the SSD and GPU so it shows everything else other than the SSD and GPU. I put in the GTX 960 in their and the PSU does

accept it so I have upgrade options in the near future. I am slightly on a budget here, but any ideas or thoughts would be Greatly appreciated.

Thank you for you time :)

Misewell get an i5-6600k and go Skylake and when Kaby Lake is released get a i7, also get a different EVGA PSU, not the B series. Get the B2, G2, GS or GQ or any XFX or Any SeaSonic.

Oh and see about selling that GPU on eBay and spending like $60 more to get a AMD HD7970. 750Tis can go from like $80-$100

Im thinking of getting a GTX 960 4GB edition in near future, or wait until Polaris comes out or when Nvidia comes out to combat the Polaris Arc

An R9 380 performs up to 15% better whilst taking similar levels of power and producing similar levels of heat. Also, choose your PSU from Tier 1 to 3 on this list: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/

Skylake just supports DDR4 RAM and is the latest generation, otherwise the 4690k and this are the same. But video editing and such, this is way better

What's with the B85 motherboard?

K-Series CPUs (especially Haswell/Haswell Refreshes), should be paired with Z97 boards.

Also, if you have 4 sticks of RAM for looks;  that is fine.  2x8GB will give you the dual channel you are looking for.
