transferring os from HP

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

Most likely won't just get activated. HP etc. uses branded OEM keys. You need to call MS to get it activated. If they even grant it.

Hey guys,

is there anything to take care of when using the os of an old hp on a new machine? the whole hp thingy will be replaced with a custom build. can I use the code printed on the sticker on the back of the case to reinstall windows 7? (+ then upgrading later on...) ?

Thanks in advance!

Reason for that is that brand PCs use recovery media instead of install CDs. MS doesn't support .ISO for keys that are pre-branded.
