Ok, so for a 2 years I have been struggling with a pc audio setup that i can be happy with.  I orignally had logitech g930s, i liked them, but they were gaming headphones, so audio was meh, and the mic was meh, then i grabbed beyerdynamic dt880s witha  modmic, loved the headphones, but the modmic kept falling off and it only sounded ok, and i didn't like having 2 cables running from my headphones, so i invested in a monoprice large diaphragm mic for 2 reasons, bettter audio, and i wanted to start streaming, so i also got a mixer so i could plug my headphones into the phones port and hear myself live.  the setup was overly complicated, and because it wasn't usb i couldn't hear myself live, without the people i was talking to hearing an echo, so i got a usb mixer, its ok but i still can't hear myself without turning the gain or output way up and then the mic is way to loud for those hearing me.  now i have sennheiser 598s, i love those, but the large diaphragm condenser mic is always picking up sound from those( this also applied for the 880s) because they are open backed.  I don't really plan on streaming anymore so i don't need to be able to hear myself.  I wan't good audio for myself(so i'd like to keep my 598s), but i need a mic solution.  i don't like the modmic, i don't like standalone mics because they pickup all sorts of noise, and if the mic just sits on my desk it picks up vibrations.  Maybe because the 598s have a removable mic there is a third party cable with a mic that is good?  or is there a mic i can mount to the top of my desk that i don't need a mixer for that will not pick up a bunch of extra sound?  HELP ME!

I can help with programming and hardware.

This. You can plug your headphones right into the bottom of the mic and mix computer audio and your voice live.

If you can afford it, get a boom arm and pop cover (like these. http://www.amazon.com/Foam-Windscreen-Blue-Yeti-Microphones/dp/B017PH9682/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1452800643&sr=8-8&keywords=blue+yeti+pop+filter

You won't regret it.

i already have that boom arm, i'll grab the pop filter if you really recommend it, if it's going to dampen the sound of my cherry mx blues then i'll grab it lol.  A few questions tho, is it omni-directional?  i've seen some video and apparently it has "modes" where it can switch between omni and uni directional, just explain that a bit please.  also, i'd like to get it used, so is this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blue-Microphones-Yeti-Professional-USB-Microphone-Silver-READ-/252249696001?hash=item3abb40e701:g:vgsAAOSwLN5WlrLl , the same as the one you linked me to, just a differen't color?

EDIT:  The one i linked you to has a broken mute button let me find another

So on the back of the yeti, there is a switch that allows you to switch pickup modes. Essentially, you can switch it to change where the mic picks up the most audio from. (In front only, front and back, all sides, and stereo. All are shown here. http://www.bluemic.com/yetipro/#/settings/)

And yes, the color is the only difference.
