What is this worth?

Go to solution Solved by JefferyD90,

Thanks man. From another forum, someone suggested around $500-$600. I was kinda disappointed with that, was kinda expecting more, like what you suggested ($700+).. Not really sure if someone would be interested in old components (i5 3570k, etc).. well, except for the GPU, of course.

If you can provide proof of purchase and stuff like that it will help your case as someone will know when it was purchased and could potentially still use the warranties (if any) that are left over.

I would have said less, but I sit here and watched a guy from work buy the exact same build for $800  (It had 2 GTX960's in SLI, so I'd consider your system to be better than his).  And he is THRILLED with it.  It's not about "What can you get out of it" its about "can I find someone willing to buy it for this".

Hi guys,

Just wanted to have an idea on how much my current PC would cost. Btw, not including SSD and HDD.

Here are the specs:

  • CPU - Intel Core i5 3570k (never overclocked)
  • GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (never overclocked)
  • Case - Cooler Master CM690II Advanced (Black and White, USB 3.0)
  • CPU Cooler - Hyper212 EVO Turbo (20th Anniversary edition or something. It has an extra fan included, for a total of 2)
  • PSU - Seasonic M12II 620W EVO (Bronze)
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte Z77X UD3H
  • RAM - Kingston 4GB DDR3 modules (x2, for a total of 8GB)

Except for the GPU (which was just bought last May 2015), everything else were bought late 2012.

Thanks!

$800-$1000.  Assuming you're willing to wait for someone to come by and buy it.  $700 or less if you need to get rid of it quickly.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Hello there. Nope, no physical damages, and nothing really broken. Just some normal wear-and-tear on the case, but for the internal components, they're regularly cleaned and maintained.

Thanks :) Hmm.. It's treated pretty well, regularly maintained and stuff. I think the sweet spot is probably $700? and I think even if I include my storage, it wouldn't really add much to the selling price, since I only have a 128GB Intel 330 SSD and a 1TB Seagate HDD.. also considering how storage nowadays are dirt cheap (well, for HDDs only, of course, hehe).

Given people's interest with everything, and the fact that it's getting to be an older socket, he wasn't wrong to suggest around $500-$600. If you looked at it from how competent it could be in games, $650-$700 easily, especially if you part it out. But because of the aging socket, no real upgrade path, no hdd, and a very slight possibility of Nivida dropping Maxwell like they did with kelper, it's arguable that it's worth $500-$600. Although this means very little as everyone will hold it at a different value, since what it's worth will depend on the persons past experiences.

An i5-3570k is still a very capable gaming CPU for probably the next 2 years, same with the GTX 970. I'd start at $800 and if someone says $700 take it, Though no less then $700

I agree, because everyone is getting their taxes back right now (in USA) it can be either a great market to sell in or a awful market.

This depends on how many people are wanting to sell their current system and then upgrade.  "Oh I got a extra $1000 back this year, so if I add $500 from my current system then I can get a $1500 computer"  vs  "Oh I got back $1000 and I'm wanting to use my computer for something else, I got $1000 to spend on a new computer"...  The two different mentalities here will buy computers differently.

Thanks guys! Based on your suggestions, I'd say I could sell this rig for around $700.. or maybe $800 if someone's willing to pay for that price, like what you all mentioned. Thanks again! Really appreciate it :)

I'm really not planning on selling it now, as in as of this moment. But haven't really found the time to play around with the machine because of work and stuff..

I'll probably give it another year and find time to use it as much as I can, and then probably by 2017, maybe sell it to someone I know (a friend, maybe?) who's maybe looking for a decent gaming rig. But we all know by that time the value of this rig would probably be much lower than $700, or maybe even lower than $600.. but what the heck. I'll stop here. Getting really sad just thinking of letting this one go. Too much sentimental value on this baby. :(
