So I got old pc like 7-8 years still running windows xp but I need to change hdd for it.

So I was wondering how good is linux and what can you do on linux and what not? Mainly it would be use by my parents. So basically no games but would it work with stuff like camera picture uploading, online movies wathing/or just news n stuff and I think for documents something called open office?

Yes , Linux is just fine for that.

For an old computer like yours I'd suggest something like Lubuntu.

i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo); ASrock Z87 EXTREME4; 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz; Asus DirectCU GTX 560; Super Flower Golden King 550 Platinum PSU;1TB Seagate Barracuda;Corsair 200r case.

Yes. It will work just fine. CentOS or Ubuntu will work pretty well on that computer.

I was wondering about Linux mint many recommend it on online and is there issue with 32-bit?

Linux Mint is perfectly fine, and there shouldn't be any issues with using 32bit. I would, however, pick XFCE over cinnamon since it is lighter on the computer.

TBH, although Linux is a great OS to use on an old PC, I would strongly advise you to actually go out and buy windows for them if they are new to Linux. Otherwise you will have them ringing you up constantly asking how to do this... or this... and why cant I do this...

Yes. All of the tasks you listed are perfectly doable in Linux. Considering this is an XP machine, I'd go with a lighter distro. Try downloading Linux Mint MATE Edition and putting it on a USB drive. Boot from it and play around in it to see if everything your parents would use works, and install it if you want.
