Hi i have a new cooler and i want to see the temps under load.

 

I don't have a game right  now, any program to do it?.

are newer versions of prime suitable for Haswell and newer gens again?

Newer versions are fine for Haswell v2 and beyond, just not regular Haswell.

Considering the whole point of stress testing is to be careful..

In this day and age, with the proliferation of super-self-confidence, you always have to qualify a statement. Linus himself has suggested staying away from Prime95 unless you really know what you are doing, and even then he urges caution. That's why they use AIDA64 at LMG.

And knowing what you're doing = using V27.9, there's nothing else to be cautious about. Know the root of the problem and do something about it, not listen to a person who barely has time to read about the WAN show notes.  No offence to Linus and the team, but knowing about the exact reason why V28 fucked Haswell and not V27.9 is not their job to know, they do what's comfortable for them.  They're not a hardcore review site and never will be (nor do they want to be).
