Is it worth watercooling a Micro ATX board or should I go with ATX for a custom loop?

 

On that note, are there any decent Micro ATX cases out there that are compact though easy to build a custom loop in?

i have a corsair 350d and it can fit a pretty good custom loop but i wouldnt say its compact. Ive seen sick builds in itx cases but if you want like 3-4 rads you definately will need to go atx. Do you have any cases in mind.

You can water cool any thing, and yes there are lots of water cooling case that are Matx. Phantek, fractal, and a lot more companies have cases that support 2 240mm rads.

It doesn't matter from a board perspective esp if you want to have a single gpu system.

 

Although personally I don't think full custom watercooling makes sense unless using at least SLI.

 

Considering that it would be much cheaper and easier to just buy an AIO for cpu and a hybrid AIO cooled GPU which is becoming more and more common (now evga, pcs, msi, and gigabyte all have one or more)

Depends on how big of a case you want on your desk. Personally I think m-atx liquid cooled builds look fine as hell (see the Green Molecule build), but there's always something about having a big board and case and big everything in a custom loop. It comes down to preference.

I'm doing an mATX custom loop with SLI 980ti right now.

 

The real limitation is case size, however in my situation I am externally mounting the rads so I get a tiny case
