Hey guys, I need your help!

I am wanting to get into BMXing but all I have is this really crappy one that has no real brand and is from Canadian Tire.

It has a few problems...

  • Way too heavy
  • Ugly
  • Tires are to "Thick"

I have taken off the front brake and the pegs, but I cant take off the kickstand as the bolt is in a unreachable place.

I have a $250 budget and want to get a beginner bike.

It has to be:

  • Light wieght
  • Blue

I would like it to be from wither of these two sites: http://www.jibsactionsports.com/ OR hamilton.kijiji.ca

THANKS! :D

Mongoose. My friend and I had one. Ran away from cars all the time and shredded trails.

They weigh far too much, had one many years ago.

Just check your local classified(craigslist for example) and find one someone is selling.

I don't ride BMX anymore as I am too busy(20 with college/job/girlfriend doesn't leave much time)

The last ride I had was a blackeye something or another that I bought off a friend for $200. Not the best bike I owned but it took a beating. The triple walled back rim took large drops nicely which was a constant problem with my past bikes.

FWIW, when I rode I only had 2 pegs on one side for hitting rails/benches never bothered with the other ones.

I would grab this and save the extra cash for whatever you see fit down the road:

Nice set of pegs and some extra tubes would do you well.

You want to pick up an actual bmx bike then. Getting a brand from a large store where you get groceries and clothes will only hinder you.

I've been riding bmx for years and you really need a bike that has the right size frame for your height, light and can handle all you can put into it.

Check out www.danscomp.com - This is where I purchase most of my parts.

Yeah. They were really nice since they were heavy to stay on ground. Mine's got stolen a few years back :( but either way I'm too busy. I got school, work, and all the other stuff I need to do.

Don't go Mongoose, they are all really heavy and almost always use cheap components. My dad and I buy and sell bikes and we refuse to buy Mongoose bikes as they are terrible. I would go with a GT if you can find one, Redline is also good. I personally have a GW, I think it's Colombian, that I use for racing, not doing tricks, it is REALLY light. At my local skateshop they sell some bikes, but in my opinion, I don't like them, they are all really heavy, almost like a Mongoose. Like others have said, look on craigslist and see if you find one you like.

Not really BMX but I had an old 1993 GT Interceptor, my cousin used to race and gave to to me when I was in 5th grade. Then when I was on vacation in July up at a friends house my mother THREW IT AWAY because I didn't have any rims on it and it had cob webs all over it. But seriously who the hell throws away a bike without asking the owner, I could have gotten at least $100 for that frame alone.

30 lbs or so.

I did the most riding with I was 15-16. Then again, I was around 160lbs or so at that point.

I would say 23lbs is pretty good. Most of mine were around that.

One good question for you, do you want a gyro? because they often add a good amount of weight to the front of the bike.

I typically just went with a longer break cable to allow for a few twists in whatever way.
