Is there a better raid card for the $?

So I think I have decided that FreeNAS is not for me, for a couple of reasons.

I am probably going to be installing windows 7 and using a raid card for hardware raid.

I saw this card being recommended a couple of times and was about to buy it. I just want something to run 8 drives in Raid 6 on with decent speeds, comparable to my freenas setup. This card:

Is there a better card for ~$150? Mind you this would end up being $200 after buying the cables..

Why not go with software RAID? FlexRAID should be able to do the job on Windows.

 

Very interesting. I have heard of FlexRAID but never really looked into it. It seems to be a good answer for my issue. One thing that I can't seem to find, how are the read/write speeds on Flexraid? I will definitely download the 14 day trial and give it a shot.

The (?) Gigabit Ethernet will most probably be the bottleneck on a NAS anyway ...?
