Not trying to start a flame war, i don't think people are as passionate about this as say CPUs or GPUs anyway, but i'm in the market for a tablet.

I would be doing very light work, basic office applications, storing/transferring files, and streaming, on the tablet so any budget recommendations are appreciated that would accommodate my needs without spending more for bells and whistles.

But more than that i would like to know any pros and cons between Android and IOS.

Transferring files with android is way easier and does not require software.

You can get 16:9 and 16:10 android tablets for content consumption.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Windows, because it's actually productive on a tablet.

Android tablets and I-Pads are made for children to play on and elderly people who can't use a real computer.

A bit arrogant are we?

Depends of what you prefer, to be honest. They both have their own strengths and weaknesses. I would try multiple tablets out and see which one you like best. I personally have a Nexus 9 and I love it.

Well, right now, it is far easier to transfer files on Android.

Also, may I recommend that you look at a budget laptop (HP Stream 13, or Lenovo S21e), that you could flash with Xubuntu, Lubuntu, or Linux Mint?

They provide a lot more functionality for the money.

Productivity always goes to Windows tablets, hands down.

Android is almost there, but if all you use are Google docs and other Google applications, then Android would be fine. I just wouldn't recommend it for school or stuff like that unless you're not using applications that require a certain OS.

there's almost no reason to consider an android tablet because Google doesn't care about tablets and the only good manufacturer neglects the performance aspect. Go with an iPad if you do a lot of content consumption and want excellent battery life.

We have this here:

not sure what's available there...

Edit:

If you're going with file transfers in mind, getting an Android tablet would be better...

Try something from Asus...

This coming from someone who owns and android tablet (Yoga 2 8), get an Ipad. Or even Windows tablet. Android is shit on tablet. Cant even open 2 apps side by side and navigations in some apps UI is clunky for productivity use. If it's purely for content consumption, then it's fine. You need to be more specific with your budget.

I'm thinking $150.

Windows sounds to be largely praised on tablets, so i'll prioritize that.

This look good to you guys?

Battery life and camera don't matter.

Again, this will be used for productivity like basic office applications, viewing/storing/transferring files, and streaming.

Nothing social and no gaming.

Looks good to me. For that price, I think it's a good buy. You can always return it if you don't like it.
