CPU Help.

What would benefit a gtx 960 scc more and what offers more performance for price?

Fx 6300 or a a8 5600k . Also a explanation would be nice why?

I game at 1080p and play triple aaa games.

Fx 6300  for sure, a trinity quad core is not enough for a GTX 960.

i3 4170 - better single core performance which games like instead of 'moar cores' of the FX-6300.

But out of the two, rather go with the FX.

Don't buy a GTX 960, buy a R9 285 or R9 380 instead.

A FX 6300 will be fine for either cards though.

Care to explain why? :3

A 960 is not worth for it's price, the 380 is a lot better for a little more cost

The R9 380 costs the same as a GTX 960 and preforms 15% better in most games.

Is  the 960 the 4GB version, if it is not then not worth

If it is, and 20% cheaper then it is worth

Should be able to get 60fps on witcher 3 on high settings with minimal anti-aliasing, same for battlefront

Is the 4170 worth the purchase over the 6300?

Oh wait I forgot to address your cpu problem

Pls dont buy a low end cpu, it will bottleneck your high end gpu, meaning drag down its performance, you need at least an i5 4460 or above or equivalent

Are you sure it will bottleneck it and by how much?

No, it won't bottleneck at all.

I had a i3 4160 and a 960 once, it was really bad, like at least 25% less than I can get with an i5

just buy the fx-6300 it will drive Gpus like the r9-380X, Gtx 960 or even Gtx 970 without problems in modern AAA games

No it won't. @byalexandr had a 290 (roughly equal to a 970) running with an i3-4170 and it was perfectly fine.

Perhaps I was playing games that was more focused on cpu, like cities skylines
