So my modded version of the game (only around 40 mods), runs quite well on my 780ti at 1440p. the gou stays around 900mhz at 50% usage, so the fps is always pegged at 60, except for certain places like cities where the cpu core gets maxed and the fps tanks to 20-30.

I assumed I would have enough headroom for any enb, since only around 30% of the gpus max ability was being used. This was however not the case, as with the ENB's I have tried so far, none of them give what I would call playable fps (60 fps most of the time). I have tried "Realvision" (the performance option), "Project ENB", and "Natural Lighting and Atmospherics for ENB", and all of them have given me around 40fps, with some dips into the 30s.

They all provide the look I'm going for, however I feel that their performance hit is quite significant, considering on the realvision page, a 970 is recommended for the full graphics option, yet I dont reach 60 fps with the performance version.

Everything is fine with the gpu, in the sense that it is hitting the correct boost clock of 1270mhz, and the cpu is also running at 4.1ghz.

My question is weather I'm doing something wrong, or ENB's are always this intense? Also what would I be able to do to improve the performance?

ENB fucking hammers the CPU performance far more than GPU performance in many games. Source: Driver San Francisco's ENB mod, which IIRC is pretty much RE4's ENB made for Driver.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

it taxes my 970 rig hard... getting 20fps with dense grass and heavy enb + 80 mods

cpu usage was low as well

The cpu is not my issue right now, as my gpu is sitting at 90%+ pretty much all throughout the game, so the gpu is the limiting factor.

The game for some reason only uses one core, leading to the aforementioned lag in cities, but elsewhere, the gpu is the bottleneck.

I run modded skyrim as one of my test stability so yea. Its pretty intensive.

I guess the recommended specs on the ENB page is for 1080p, and since 1440p is nearly double the pixels, I guess I'll have to deal with it...

If you're on Windows 10, bare in mind that sweetfx doesn't play well with it. Remove the sweetfx dll from the ENB, and you'll likely see a dramatic improvement in performance. If that's still not enough, disabling ambient occlusion and depth of field from the enb settings are the next 2 steps.

DOF, and ambien occlusion are already disabled in the performance version of Realvision.

I will try removing the sweetfx files...
