I'm currently running Windows 10 Home x64 on my laptop and today there has been an update labelled as Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586 that is consistently failing to update. I've tried using the troubleshooting tools as administrator, it repaired some Windows Update Components but the problem still persists. Does anyone else have this update and is it important? How do I fix it?

It will be an important update soon enough.  Tons of people have this issue.  It's for Windows 10 Threshold 2, which fixes a bunch of bugs, and makes some things better (menus aren't as white, your title bars can now be coloured, more comprehensive settings in some spots, etc)

I've been putting it off as there are preloaded Lenovo applications that I have no idea where to find. I probably will when the semester ends as the laptop is mainly used for school work and administrative duties.

So it's not a problem specifically to my device? I've been wondering about the state of this install for a while because it looks somewhat different from the Windows 10 Pro install (clean install) on my desktop. For example, on my desktop, the background colour of the drop down menu when you right click the task bar is dark grey, but white on the laptop. The font on that menu is also a bit different. I don't know if that's just a difference between the Home or Pro versions or is it because the laptop was upgraded from Windows 8.1 while the desktop was not.

you don't need those programs....they are just bloatware oems install

all you need is the drivers

as for your problem...it would be solved if the pc was clean installed...I only do clean installs of 10..and the updates works fine on all the pcs
