MOBO and RAM Question

Go to solution Solved by airdeano,

by default, the mobo will use 1333/1600MHz, you'll want to use the XMP function

of the motherboard to make the RAM run at the advertised speed 1866MHz.

hey guys. thanks for the help on my other question. this will likely be the last.

so im buying a Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 LGA1151 mobo which supports 1866(oc)/1600/1333. 1866 should be the fastest one right? but this one says 1866(oc), does that mean that i should buy an 1866 ram IF im going to OC or it just says that it's the best one to OC? can i still use an 1866 ram if im not going to OC? thanks

it means you can overclock the motherboard to use 1866
