Advice for GPU

New build, undecided with GPU (possible option Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini)

Already purchased:

Intel 4790K

Gigabyte H97N-WIFI

Ballistx 16GB (2 X 8 GB)

Fractal Design Core 500

Planned Power Supply Options

Corsair RM Series RM650 or

Silverstone SX600-G

CPU Cooler and Optical Drive

Still Researching (will be dependent on GPU size)

Storage

Samsung SSD EVO 500

Samsung SSD Pro 250

I am highly considering a mini GPU over the standard size (more air flow in SSF case). Would like to consider other options to Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini (which I can get for $330). $300 is dollars is really my max budget. So with that said; any opinions with supporting facts will be entertained. Also anyone's personal experience with the Mini would be appreciated. The system will eventually be a HTPC for the downstairs man cave.

there isn't really anything else mini than the 970 at this price

380 is mini

and then R9 Nano

 

EDIT: MSI's cards are relatively small having only 2 fans

The only other card that would be under your your budget would be the 380 Compact.
