[Unrecoverable] Windows 10 Freezes Using XSplit Broadcaster

AsrielDreemurr

*EDIT

CPU: Intel Core i7 4500u 1.8ghz with 2.4ghz boost

Tempts don't exceed 84 Degrees Celsius (I know that's disturbingly high, but tbh, it's normal temps for me

This has happened on multiple occasions, mainly from local recording instead of livestreams, and it's getting annoying. Mainly because I'm starting to loose unsaved data because of this. Whenever it stops responding it is not recoverable. I have to force-shut it down, thus resulting in the loss of data and/or unsaved work. (and I can't save it because, well, I'm using it.)

Remember it doesn't always crash. It typically crashes while running CPU intensive games such as Geometry Dash or Minecraft. (More on Minecraft. Today it crashed Geometry Dash for the first time)

I have very little evidence to help as no error's occur. XSplit doesn't show crash reports, Windows doesn't show crash reports, neither do the games I record. It just plain freezes. I do have a shred of help: this warning message from XSplit when it starts up: (which doesn't affect anything as it doesn't crash everyday, but crashes often. Video files are perfectly normal)

If you suspect the CPU, what CPU/CPU cooler are you using?

Are you using a program to monitor temperatures? That sounds like what happens when CPU hits max temp.

Almost as cool as my temps

Reload. Add cpu and temps. It's not a temp problem. While doing intensive rendering during a hot drought, I kept peaking at 92 Degrees...

From personal experience XSplit has been buggy as hell.

Have you considered using ShadowPlay instead? I'm not sure it offers all the same features but I've heard it runs really well.

Other than that, it could be a GPU hardware fault, or driver problem.

Perhaps check event viewer to see if there's any record of graphics related errors.

I don't have the stats to use ShadowPlay (I'm on a laptop). This has happened before with OBS also (although rarely).

*Where does one find the event viewer?

Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer

The errors would probably be under 'System'.

Edit: Also, what GPU is in your laptop? Laptop GPUs tend to overheat a lot.

Thanks for the screenshot, however I don't think those are the kind of errors we're looking for, that specific error is related to a loss of power.

On a desktop PC, that's a sign of a faulty power supply.

On a laptop, it could simply be due to you holding down the power button to force it to shutdown, or perhaps your battery/power brick is sketchy.

If you expand Windows Logs below that, there may be more useful information.

(Relating to graphics specifically)
