New motherboard software Help?

Go to solution Solved by Xenift,

Like a clean windows install ?

Yes, so any random drivers that would be left of the system be cleaned out.

^ Of course, if you don't mind losing data.

Hi wonderful linus fans/members, I have a question for motherboard drivers and software. So my gigabyte basically shat the bed and my local store does not have any left, and I am deciding to pick up the ASUS x99 sabertooth. After I reinstall everything and plug in my ssd, and go into my first boot it will have my old gigabyte drivers and software. Would that be an issue ?  Obviously as soon as I boot up I will delete and uninstall all of my GIGABYTE drivers and software, then download the Asus ones. Would the gigabyte software and drivers cause an issue or would it be safe to boot up and then delete them while on the new asus board ?

Not that i know of, no you would be pretty much fine. But a clean install would still be preferred.

Yeah, that makes sense, but if I did not do a full system os install again , it should be fine right ? It's just that I spent a lot of time downloading 15 games, all my slyrim and witches 3 mods, it's just going to be a pain for me.

You should be okay with just uninstalling all the drivers from your Gigabyte motherboard, and installing the proper ones for your ASUS replacement.

IF anything does go wrong, as mentioned, then reinstall Windows -- after backing up any data you want to keep.

sorry to bother you again, but I have one question, I can keep all the intel drivers right ? it's just all the gigabyte exclusives that I should get rid of right ?
